IIT Hyderabad invites online applications for the post of Application Specialist specifically for the Atom Probe Tomography (APT) facility. The selected candidate will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and data analysis of the APT system, assisting internal and external researchers in high-resolution material characterization at the atomic scale. 🔬 Key Responsibilities: Operate and maintain the Atom Probe Tomography (APT) equipment and associated sample preparation tools (like FIB). Assist researchers in experimental design, sample mounting, and data reconstruction. Perform complex data analysis using specialized software (IVAS/APSuite) to interpret atomic-scale maps. Conduct training sessions for students and external users on APT operation and safety protocols.
M.E. / M.Tech in Materials Science / Metallurgy / Physics or equivalent with 3+ years of experience. (OR) Ph.D. in a relevant field with hands-on experience in Atom Probe Tomography or Field Ion Microscopy. Strong expertise in Focused Ion Beam (FIB) based sample preparation for APT. Proficiency in data reconstruction and analysis software used in atom probe systems. Excellent communication skills to coordinate with multi-disciplinary research teams. Age limit: Maximum 35 - 40 years (Relaxation as per Institute norms).
